If Asian dramas are your jam, you do not want to miss this Chinese teen drama available on Netflix. The streaming giant has been steadily expanding its internationally produced content and finally found this to be a way inside the Chinese market with 2018's 'Meteor Garden', a remake of 2001 teen drama of the same name. The new rendition immediately gained massive popularity globally with its IMDb score at a whopping 8.2. And, now, we come bearing good news for all the 'Meteor Garden' fans.

Will fans' eagerness convince the showmakers of a season 2?

Asian dramas rarely get a second season. Be it Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, or Japanese, most dramas get wrapped up in the first season itself, with episodes ranging from 20-26. There are, of course, some exceptions but 'Meteor Garden' was initially only planned for one season.

As a rule, Netflix is extremely secretive about any show's viewership details but the show became popular enough to start a social media cyclone and fans couldn't stop praising and wanting more. Meteor Garden confessions tweeted "GIVE US METEOR GARDEN SEASON 2 WE NEED TO SEE MORE FROM THESE PAIRINGS!"

There's even an online petition available, created by Amelia B, on avaas.org, called "Netflix: Create a season 2 of 'Meteor Garden'" with signs from 1,450 supporters. Will Netflix and Angie Chai finally cave? We certainly hope so!

Is Netflix renewing 'Meteor Garden' for a second season?

Showrunner Angie Chai said, in a Netflix press release, "The new rendition is re-adapted for the millennial generation from the story, script to an on-demand viewing platform so that a new generation of viewers will enjoy this classic love story". We have seen many times in Netflix that shows with no initial intent for a season 2 have changed their plans on seeing the viewer's reception.

Rob Roy, Vice President, Content (Asia) at Netflix was all praises about the 'Meteor Garden' Season 1 release in the same press release. "Netflix wants to discover charming stories from every corner of the world for our global members. With Chai's creativity and unique vision for idol drama, Netflix members will enjoy the show no matter if they are fans already or new to this series."

Although there aren't any official updates from Netflix's end about the show's reboot, we can certainly hope that they will think about it.
